IT ALL STARTED IN A BRONX, NY CLASSROOM

Rewind          Let us start from the beginning. After graduating from Temple University, Davon Clark was jolted into a struggling economy (So, that is what they said); While pursuing a career in the entertainment field, Davon decided to take up substitute teaching to help sustain a livelihood. This particular profession landed Davon in several schools na-tionwide - Camden, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Los Angeles, CA, and Bronx, NY. Davon entered the classrooms with hopes of inspiring the next generati-on. However, he noticed a disparity amongst the students, they could not read or do basic math. Davon gasped in shock. He found that reading children's books to students sometimes fell on deaf ears; 

They lacked excitement for literacy and begged for more interaction. One day, sitting in a classroom in the Bronx, NY, Davon asked, "How can I reach children through literacy?"An idea popped into his head,"Why not create an interactive children's book", 

Davon took to writing. He wrote during his lunch break, on the subway and even at home. This led tothe development of The Adventures of Prada Enchilada, an educational interactive children's book series, which help children identify objects, learn fun facts and utilize basic math skills.

THE NEXT STEP

After developing The Adventures of Prada Enchilada, Davon reached out to numerous literary agencies seeking representation. It was his hopes to secure an agent and go through publishing the traditional way.

 

However, Davon was denied from everyone with the phrase,"Sor-ry, I can not Champion for your work." Davon thought to himself, " I will not allow anyone to dictate my future." Davon got on the phone and started calling several schools in hopes of doing author readings. Schools were thrilled and eager to have him. Davon had the pleasure of going to schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, to name a few. While visiting schools, numerous teachers asked Davon was an agency sending him out. Davon reply was, "NO!" An idea popped into his head, "Why not develop a company that sends authors out to schools for book readings", from that idea ADC Kid was birthed. The initial concept of ADC Kid was to have independent authors available to schools for book readings at a reasonable fee. However, when struggling to get a consistent roster of authors, Davon decided to push The Adventures of Prada Enchilada book instead, developing it into a multi-children's book series. He then went back on the road, taking up contracts with Independence Blue Cross, School District of Philadelphia, Center for Child & Family Achievement, Nemours Alfred L. DuPont Hospital for Children and more. 

LOOKING FORWARD

Today, Davon Clark aims to develop ADC Kid into a multimedia children's conglomerate, with hopes on for-mulating children and young adult content.

 

He is working on taking up contracts with TV Networks, Digital Platforms, School Districts and more.

 

Davon has started facilitating workshops and seminars worldwide around Juvenile Justice and the decaying of education in America.
